One could also use SSH to create a tunnel, or something like OpenVPN. I would not place Eth0 directly on the public interface - but in the case of a small branch office I would definitely consider the firewall/NAT port forwarding option. But what about Eth0, that you use for remote management of ESX: is that port on a public IP address without firewall? this can be a security issue, isn't it?
